Steamed Date Pudding
Ingredients
3 tblspns. Butter
1/2 Cup Syrup
1/2 tspn. Bi- Carb.
1/2 lb. Stoned Chopped Dates
1-7/8 Cups Unsifted meal
1/2 Cup Milk
1/4 tspn. Each: Salt
Nutmeg and allspice.

Method
Melt the butter , add the syrup and milk . Add mixed dry ingredients.Mix in the dates.Steam in the buttered mould for 2-1/2 hours for a large mould, and 1-1/2 hours for a small one. Serve with hard sauce.
Hard sauce :
1/3 Cups Butter ,1 Cup icing Sugar,1/2 tspn. Vanilla.
Cream the butter and add icing sugar and flouring.Beat well.
