Savoury Scones
Ingredients
6 oz. Sifted Flour
3/4 oz. Bran Flakes
2 tspn Caraway Seeds
1/2 tspn. Bi-carb.
1/2 Cup Sour Milk
1/3 Cup Butter
1 tspn. Baking Powder
1 tspn. Salt
2 oz. Sharp Grated Cheese
6 oz. Sifted Flour
3/4 oz. Bran Flakes
2 tspn Caraway Seeds
1/2 tspn. Bi-carb.
1/2 Cup Sour Milk
1/3 Cup Butter
1 tspn. Baking Powder
1 tspn. Salt
2 oz. Sharp Grated Cheese
Method
Combine the breakfast bran flakes and the sour milk; leave to stand for 5 minutes, or until most of the moisture is taken up. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut or rubin the butter until the mixture resembles fine meal. Add the grated cheese and the caraway seeds.Add the flakes-milk mixture, stirring only until combined. Turn this dough onto a lightly floured board; knead gently a few times. Roll out 1/2" thick; cut with a floured scone-cutter 13/4" in diameter. Place on an ungrased sheet of paper. Bake in a hot oven (450o F) for about 12 minutes.
