Date and Nut Bread

1 cake compressed yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1-3/4 cups pineapple juice
3 tblspns.melted shortening
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 tspn. Salt
4 cups wholewheat flour
2 cups chopped dates
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
2 cups chopped nuts
Soften yeast in lukewarm water,add pineapple juice,shortening, molasses and salt;add wholewheat flour and enough white flour to make a sift dough.Brush surface very lightly with melted shortening,cover and let rise in warm place for about 2 hours.Turn out into lightly floured board,dredge dates with flour,combine with nuts and knead into dough.Knead for 10 minsDivide into 2 equal parts and mould into balls.Let rest,closely covered for 10 mins.Sharpe into loavesPlace in two greased loaf pans,brush top with melted shortening,cover and let rise for 1hr.Bake in a moderate oven for 45-55 mins.
